The RTS games that put Blizzard on the map are looking sharp thanks to new art and quality-of-life features.
Blizzard Celebrates Warcraft’s 30th Anniversary with Surprise Remasters of Warcraft 1 & 2 – Featuring Hand-Drawn Visuals, Enhanced Gameplay, and Classic Multiplayer Support
Blizzard has pulled off a surprise announcement for the 30th anniversary of Warcraft, revealing remasters of both Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2, available now. These classic RTS games have been revitalized with new hand-drawn visuals that stay true to the original style, allowing players to toggle between original and remastered graphics in real time, according to Warcraft manager Brad Chan.
Warcraft 1’s remaster includes modern updates like 16:9 resolution support, right-click movement, and multi-unit selection without holding down Ctrl, making it far more accessible for today’s players. Both games also feature UI and UX enhancements, including health bars, tooltips, and improved mission selection screens—upgrades that fans of the originals will appreciate.
Warcraft 2 retains its multiplayer capabilities, with full support for legacy custom maps—a feature Chan highlighted with excitement during Blizzard’s livestream. Available individually for USD$9.99 (Warcraft 1) and USD$14.99 (Warcraft 2), both games can also be purchased in a Battle Chest bundle with the newly updated Warcraft 3: Reforged. AVAILABLE NOW!
